I can't see anything backhanded in RS's praise of Benson or, especially, of Hejinian. I like the way Ron describes himself as the beast, unqualified to review Benson. Of course he goes on to do this, which is an expected and almost endearing counter-annoyance. Seems Ron through pedigree is particularly "licensed" to insert his own processes and output vis a vis Hejinian and Benson.
I thought he just wanted to make sure that we all knew how he, Ron Silliman, got there first. First New Sentences. First poem made solely of questions. That gratuity about reading with Robert Hunter, just icing on the look-at-me cake.

What do you otherwise?

Allen,

You mean when he said he hadn't seen so pure a form since his own Ketjak?
